How to inject more positivity in your home!

We could all do with a bit of extra positivity in our lives at the minute, right? There’s a few ways that we’re injecting a bit more joy at Skinny HQ, and we wanted to share them with you so you can make some small changes at home to perk up your place, and perk up your positivity!

The place where most of us spend the majority of our time is our homes, and there’s no good reason we can’t make them as uplifting and as lovely to be in as possible. This can be done in very different ways in each home, but here’s a few of our top tips that will inject positivity into almost any home:

  • Think about using colours that you associate with happy times in your life. For example, if you’re a beachy babe and love being by the sea, fill your home with  ocean colours. If you love skiing and hols in chilly places, you could go for whites and wintery colours. Colour is closely linked to memory so if you link them back to times that felt positive, that positivity is likely to radiate through your home!
  • We often frame photos around our homes of friends or family (where the kids are actually smiling with their eyes open at the same time: miracle!), but it also works wonders to frame items, or things that make us proud like certificates, an exciting acceptance letter or a thank you card, so that every time you walk past it you feel a little boost of confidence and motivation: show off that *you did that* and celebrate it every day!
  • Saying positive affirmations (lovely lil’ statements that make you feel warm and fuzzy inside and bust through negative beliefs we might have) out loud have been proven to make you more confident and happy, but if you feel a bit daft saying them outloud, try pinning up positive affirmations around your home, whether they’re just on post-its around your bathroom mirror, in frames on the wall or even as sticker murals: positive words equals a positive mind. • Include positive affirmations or happy photos on your morning coffee mug to set your day off on the right foot. There are plenty of companies like Vistaprint and Snapfish where you can print your fave pics of your hubby, kiddos or friends so pop a smile on your face as you sip away!
  • Incorporate flowers and house-plants around the home and in your garden: studies have shown that indoor plants improve your concentration and productivity by up to 15% (and lord knows we could use a bit of extra motivation some days, amiright!), and surrounding yourself by nature makes you more relaxed, calm, and yep, positive! Have a fab day guys,

Lots of Love,
