You deserve it! Five ways to have a bit of ‘me time’ this August Bank Holiday

Here at Skinny, we know that most of you lot are always on-the-go. Whether it’s the school run, football practice, family meals, walking the dog, trips to the supermarket, or the never-ending ironing that’s taking up your time – you’re a right busy bunch! But when was the last time you took some time out just for you? By that we mean no chores, no rushing around, nowhere to be except for ‘in the moment’? We’re guessing it’s probably been a while! So here at Skinny HQ, we’ve been thinking of some ways you can give yourself a little bit of extra TLC this bank holiday weekend, because you bloomin’ deserve it! No need to book a fancy spa break – you can create perfect ‘me’ moments all from the comfort of your lovely home. So have a read on for some of our sneaky self-care tips. It’s time to treat yourself!

 1) Make a meal of it

When was the last time you cooked your favourite meal just for you? When you’re in a rush or cooking for the family, it can be all too easy sometimes to reach for a micro meal or go with what the kids want, instead of indulging in your own favourite grub. Well, this weekend it’s time to cook up a storm and make a scrumptious bowl of a little bit of what you fancy! If you’ve been sticking to a diet, don’t stress – the occasional treat meal won’t do you any harm. So whether it’s a big bowl of pasta or a fancy salad, it’s time to enjoy some foodie indulgence. It’s called ‘comfort food’ for a reason, after all! Oh and if you’ve got any room for dessert, make sure you have a Skinny Bar ready and waiting in the cupboard. Go on, they’re only 99 calories...

 2) Time out in the tub

The ultimate act of self care has surely got to be having a soak in a lush bubble bath. Set the mood by lighting some candles, grabbing your fave book, or even popping on some mellow music to chill out to. Why not also grab some essential oils or splash out on a bath bomb? These will really turn the relaxation up a notch and hopefully set you up for a perfect night sleep too. Don’t forget to let the rest of the house know that you’re enjoying a do not disturb moment too! Lock that door and soak up the peace and quiet.

 3) Unplug to unwind

There’s no denying it, we can spend a lot of time on our phones these days. Whether it’s Tweeting our feelings or scrolling through the Skinny Instagram page to swoon at your favourite treats (who can blame you!?) – us Brits spend around 24 hours every week glued to our devices. So this weekend, why not try a little digital detox and turn off your phone for a couple of hours each day? Better still, go for a stroll instead of having a scroll. Having some time out in nature is a perfect way to have some ‘me time’, without your phone pinging!

 4) Curl up with a box set

When was the last time you had a Netflix and chill? Sometimes there’s nothing better than throwing on some comfies, grabbing a cuppa (and a Skinny Whip!) and cuddling up on the sofa to watch a bit of your fave telly. Life can be blummin’ busy sometimes, so having an afternoon or evening to recharge and snuggle up can be just what you need. Kick back, press play, relax. It’s as simple as that!

 5) A bit of cheeky retail therapy

Sometimes the best way to treat ourselves, is to treat ourselves! We can often feel a tad guilty buying ourselves something special, but it’s a great way to give yourself a much deserved reward for being so fabulous! So whether it’s that new blouse you’ve been eyeing up, or that swanky bottle of aftershave, give yourself permission to buy yourself a little pressie – you won’t regret it.
